Need For Speed...DRPS Project ERASE

On Friday, April 24th, CTV Toronto hired me to cover a story about the street racing issue on GTA roads, especially with the nicer weather gradually coming along. As a perk of being a video journalist, I got to do 2 laps of the Mosport track in a Corvette...oh, and interview the DRPS chief, YRP Deputy Chief and Ron Fellows, a racing legend. But here is the video of the drive around the track...

Inferno in Whitby

I was on scene of a significant fire in Whitby in a historic district of downtown. The fire broke out in a restaurant basement approximately 2 a.m. on April 3rd. Here are some photos from the scene, taken by Dave Parsons.

YQT to YTZ Time Lapse

After an extremely successful year completing an accelerated Broadcast Television diploma at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, I flew home to Toronto on March 31, 2015. After some de-icing, we took off about 13:13. It was a very smooth flight and great day for flying, but also for taking time lapse from my seat in 3A. Here is the link to the video for you to enjoy!

Pan Am Games Opportunity...A Knockout!

Late on Tuesday night I got an email from the Pan Am Games Hiring Committee, telling me that I was selected as one of the people hired to work at the Pan Am Games. I will be happily working from July 16th to 26th at the GM Centre (or the Oshawa Sports Centre as it will be known during the games) covering both Men's and Women's boxing events. This is something I am very much looking forward to and helping be part of a team making amazing broadcasts for what will be an amazing event for Toronto, Ontario, the surrounding GTA and each of the 41 nations involved in the games.

Passing On Wind?

Here is a link below on a story about wind turbines in the Province of Ontario. As I am currently in Thunder Bay, I was called on to help out with the story and do camera work for the lawyer, Julian Falconer, interview. Paul Bliss, the reporter from CTV Toronto called in via speaker phone and conducted the interview that way. I recorded the b roll and interview. It was a busy shoot though. I was on a bus at 9, shot some b roll of Thunder Bay until about 945, was setup and ready to go with the interview starting shortly after 10. At 10:30 I was back on a bus, where I was downloading and converting my footage, on my way to the college. There I edited down the clip to the required portion and started the transfer to CTV in Toronto. All this and I made it to the 11:30 class with time to spare. So that is a little of what went into the behind the scenes creation of this story and I hope you enjoy it!

Letter of Success!

With the first semester at Confederation College's Broadcast Television program successfully completed, I received a letter from the school congratulating me on my academic success, a 3.85 GPA for the Fall semester. This was a great accomplishment for me as I came into the accelerated program with experience in camera work and a little bit of experience in audio and editing. However there were challenges, like AVID, an editing system that I had never used before and successfully completed all my assignments on time or even handed them in early. My percentage average was 88% which I was extremely pleased with. So far the Winter semester has been going equally as well and I look forward to getting both another letter from Confederation, but also my diploma!
